Into the week - May 2020
4th May 2020Marc Leads us into the week, thinking about Psalm 23, and the Shepherd anointing the sheep's head with oil.
11th May 2020To take us into this week, Marc confesses to sleeping through school, but does recall MRS GREN... And she wasn't one of his teachers!
This week's theme is "Identifying Life", in line with Jesus' claims to be "The Way, the Truth and the Life"... What does that mean for us? How do we know the have Jesus' life in ourselves and our churches? Once again the aim is for just 5 minutes of thinking/reflection, with a challenge and a prayer. 18th May 2020This week's "Into the Week" is an animation that has been prepared by "B and Lil." Both are members in our circuit, but "B" (Becca Byass), also happens to be the District Wellbeing Officer.
Originally designed to be delivered at the District Youth Event on Sunday 17th May, this is too good not to share far and wide! This week you have permission to listen to you. 25th May 2020As we head "Into The Week", let's prepare ourselves for what slowing down might really mean, and what might happen if we let ourselves slow down.
Into the week - June 2020
1st June 2020Suzanne Williamson picks up on something Rev. Andrew Charlesworth alluded to in his Pentecost Sermon about "Dreaming Bigger".
What would it mean for us to "Dream Bigger" in our faith, and not be surprised when God does "Infinitely more than we could ask or imagine". (Ephesians 3:20) 8th June 2020Heading "Into the Week" this week, Marc is thinking further about our current climate, and prevalence of oppression in all its forms in our world and society, and goes back to an old Sunday school favourite story to try and work out what it means for us to put Jesus' words into practice...
15th June 2020This week for "Into the Week" Marc puts on 17 T-shirts to show just how cumbersome it is when we keep adding layers to our religious practice, and wondering what we would need to take off in order to heed Jesus' call in Matthew 11 verses 28-30.
22nd June 2020What do you need to make yourself happy? What will be enough?
For "Into the Week" this week, Marc reads a brief few pages from Matt Haig's "Notes on a Nervous Planet", and finishes with 2 simple verses from the Old Testament. May we know where to find happiness. 29th June 2020Reflecting on the joys of car ownership, and drawing influences from "The Big Bang Theory" (the TV series, not the scientific creation story) and a particularly brilliant "Christian Dad-Joke", Marc is asking us if we have any warning lights we need to heed in our lives at the moment!
Into the week - July 2020
6th July 2020It's a rollercoaster, isn't it!? Yay: Churches may open again for worship! Boo: Singing isn't allowed! So the question Marc's reflecting on this week is this: Why would we bother going back to church as Methodists if we're not allowed to sing!?
13th July 2020This week for "Into the Week" Marc wants to know:
Can we write our own local "Song of Ascent"? (Read the YouTube video description for more!) 20th July 2020:So much I could say, and so little time!
And yes, Marc gets the irony of multitasking whilst questioning how we value our time... And yes, the added irony of the timer doesn't help! BUT... "Give up yourself, unto this moment, The time is now!" 27th July 2020:The last in our current programme of "Into the Week", Marc is thinking about not just going into the week, but into the Summer and further into the unknown.

13th May 2020This week's "Midweek Worship" is a reflective monologue from the perspective of Peter.
Rev. John Wiseman helps us to consider what it would be like to have heard it all from Jesus first-hand, without our years of exegesis and interpretation. 20th May 2020This week's Midweek Worship is a short time of prayer and reflection thinking about the Love of God. It has been written by Deacon Helen Snowball and is led by Marc Williamson.

15th July 2020This week's "Midweek Worship" is a written reflection from Rev. Moses Agyam. To guide his reflection, Moses uses an ancient form of prayer called "Lectio Divina".
![]()
For those who don't know what Lectio Divina is, we've made a video guide to (hopefully) explain it and help you use the practise for yourself.
22nd July 2020:Deacon Helen Snowball is reflecting on the person of Mary Magdalene for this week's Midweek Worship, inviting us to consider the unfair reputation she can often be given, and instead suggesting there are ways we should seek to be like her.
29th July 2020:Rev. John Wiseman uses this week's Midweek Worship to consider communication and prayer.
