VACANCY:
Could you be the person we're looking for to join our team in this exciting role?

Since September 2021 Deacon Julie Morton has spent time in Nottingham city centre; praying around the city, making contacts and building relationships. Her aim was to try and listen to the needs of the city and to see where God was already at work.
Initial intentions were to build a Core Team and create regular opportunities to pray about the city with others. A small Core Team was established, and several people gather online each week to pray.

Sometimes we have stepped out in faith and tried something new and those attempts haven’t always worked, but we recognise that as pioneers, being bold enough to give something a try and then brave enough to bring it to a close is all a part of what we are called to do.
Breathe, our faith community, meets every Friday. We are an eclectic group and spend time sharing life and faith together. All are welcome as we build community together and learn to respect one another’s differences. After meeting in a number of different venues, including two Vodka Revolution bars (both closed), we are now temporarily located in St Andrews with Castlegate URC church. Although we prefer to be in a location that isn’t a church building, our hosts have been very generous and welcoming and understand our circumstances. |

We also run a monthly women’s group in Café Sobar. The fact that the café offers support to those in recovery from addiction is not lost on us and as we gather around the table for food, drink and conversation, we are often supporting one another through life’s challenges.
We hold occasional Bible Studies in Costa and gather for conversation with others when we can. We are currently looking for a base in the city from which we can run the majority of our groups and activities; this will also aide us in raising our profile. |
We aim to engage with the life of the city around Christmas and Easter as much as is possible, and we will be applying to the Winter Wonderland for a stall, although there is a lot of competition.
As part of our desire to connect with what is already happening in the city we are recruiting a Community Development Worker to specifically explore the possibility of starting a Recovery Church Community. They will also work alongside what currently exists and become a member of the Core Team, helping to develop new ideas.
We are really excited about new possibilities for our work in the city centre and continue to pray that God’s hand is upon it.
